Assessment Batteries
The four most common assessments batteries that PECS is requested to conduct are:
- Comprehensive Psychological Assessment
- Comprehensive Psychological and Educational Assessment
- Comprehensive Functional Academic Assessment
- Comprehensive Autism Assessment
All four of these standardised assessment batteries are provided at a heavily discounted price when compared to the costs that would be charged according to the APS Recommended Fee Schedule.
Furthermore, rebates are often available from Medicare and Private Health Insurers which further reduces the cost incurred by the patient/client.
Comprehensive Psychological Assessment: $1495
(for ADHD, Intellectual Developmental Disorder, etc)
- An initial consultation to gather background information
- A range of psychological and socio-emotional checklists
- An assessment using the WISC-V or WAIS-IV (1½ hour IQ test investigating cognitive ability and intellectual strengths and weaknesses across a maximum of 16 areas)
- Scoring and analysis of results
- A written report (approximately 25pp) detailing the results and providing interpretations
- A subsequent consultation to discuss the results with the client/parents
- Provision of the report to the referring health / education professional
Comprehensive Psychological and Educational Assessment: $1995
(for the initial diagnosis of Specific Learning Disorder, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, etc)
- An initial consultation to gather background information
- A range of psychological and socio-emotional checklists
- An assessment using the WISC-V or WAIS-IV (1½ hour IQ test investigating cognitive ability and intellectual strengths and weaknesses across a maximum of 16 areas)
- An assessment using the WIAT-III (1½ hour educational test which assesses reading, written expression, spelling, and mathematics)
- Scoring and analysis of results
- A written report (approximately 35pp) detailing the results and providing interpretations
- A subsequent consultation to discuss the results with the client/parents
- Provision of the report to the referring health / education professional
Comprehensive Functional Academic Assessment: $1495
(for reassessing Specific Learning Disorder, Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, etc. A cognitive test is not administered)
- An initial consultation to gather background information
- A range of psychological and socio-emotional checklists
- An assessment using the WISC-V or WAIS-IV (1½ hour IQ test investigating cognitive ability and intellectual strengths and weaknesses across a maximum of 16 areas)
- An assessment using the WIAT-III (1½ hour educational test which assesses reading, written expression, spelling, and mathematics)
- Scoring and analysis of results
- A written report (approximately 35pp) detailing the results and providing interpretations
- A subsequent consultation to discuss the results with the client/parents
- Provision of the report to the referring health / education professional
- Incorporation of previous WISC-V or WAIS-IV (1½ hour IQ test investigating cognitive ability and intellectual strengths and weaknesses across a maximum of 16 areas) results into the report
Comprehensive Autism Assessment: $2595
An Autism Assessment includes the following:
- An initial consultation to gather background information
- Provision and Scoring of the PsychProfiler (a Global Screening Instrument)
- Provision and Scoring of an Adaptive Behaviour Checklist (e.g., the ABAS-3)
- Provision and Scoring of the Autism Spectrum Rating Scales-II (ASRS-II; for 21-year old’s and below) or the Social Responsiveness Scale-2 (for individuals older than 21)
- A cognitive assessment using the WPPSI/WISC-V/WAIS-IV (1½ hour IQ test investigating cognitive ability/intellectual strengths and weaknesses across 16 areas)
- An interview addressing the seven DSM-5-TR ASD criteria
- Scoring and analysis of WPPSI/WISC-V/WAIS-IV results
- A 20 to 30-minute (approx) feedback session to discuss the results is delivered immediately after the assessment has been completed
- A 25 page (approx) written report detailing the assessment tools used, the results, and providing interpretations and recommendations.
- Provision of the report and cover letter to the referring health professional (if applicable)
A charge of $200 will apply for an ADHD assessment if also requested. This fee covers the provision, scoring, and reporting of ADHD behavioural checklists investigating inattention, concentration, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Therefore, a combined Autism and ADHD assessment is $2795 in total.
A charge of $900 will apply for an Educational Assessment if requested to investigate for a Specific Learning Disorder (SLD: in Reading, Writing, Spelling and/or Maths aka Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia). ADHD, if not already diagnosed, will also be covered as part of this assessment at no additional cost. Therefore, a combined Autism, SLD, and ADHD (if applicable) assessment is $3495 in total.
The waiting period for large-scale assessment appointments is approximately 21-28 working days and the full assessment reports are completed within 10 working days of the assessment.
